Motocaddy Nominated for Sports Technology Award

Motocaddy has been nominated in the 2021 Sports Technology Awards for the first time and joins a select group of other global names in the highly competitive ‘Capgemini Technology Innovation of the Year’ category.

The world’s leading golf trolley company’s revolutionary M5 GPS DHC electric trolley with a touchscreen display was shortlisted alongside products from other sporting innovators such as Hawk-Eye, Lumen and Discovery / Eurosport TV for the top prize awarded in May.

Recognised as an international mark of excellence, the Sports Technology Awards is a unique celebration of hi-tech enhancement across the world of sport. The Innovation category celebrates the most original technology in sports created over the past 18 months.

The Awards will be judged by a panel of 44 world renowned industry professionals and ex-sports stars including Olympic Gold medallist Alistair Brownlee, ex-England cricketer and broadcaster Darren Gough MBE and Thierry Pascal, Managing Director of PGA Tour International.

The M5 GPS DHC is the world's first compact-folding touchscreen GPS electric trolley offering golfers of all abilities the 'ultimate caddie' with fully-integrated GPS distances for over 40,000 worldwide courses. The super-intelligent trolley can be connected via Bluetooth to the free Motocaddy GPS app, offering a wide range of smartphone notifications on the responsive screen, including missed calls, texts, emails and alerts from apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook. In another industry first, the trolley also offers built-in Wi-Fi for super-fast Over‑the‑Air course and software updates.

The DHC (Downhill Control) feature allows the trolley to maintain a constant speed when moving down a gradient, coupled with an electronic parking brake to keep the trolley stationary, even on the steepest slopes.

Motocaddy recently appointed former Dyson concept engineer Ian Gell to the newly created position of Director of Engineering & Technology, in a move designed to enhance product innovation. Later this year, the brand will be first to introduce cellular connectivity on its top-end products, enabling new and existing M5 owners and the luxury M-TECH users to access more advanced course mapping, real-time updates and performance tracking.

The latest pioneering technology joins a long list of Motocaddy industry firsts, including the world’s first GPS golf trolley, the EASILOCK™ trolley/bag connection system, USB charging functionality and the QUIKFOLD assembly mechanism, plus leading the seismic shift towards Lithium only trolleys.
